Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Michael Landrum as judge of the 514th District Court in Harris County. The appointment was announced August 25, 2026 and takes effect September 1, 2026, for a term set to expire December 31, 2028.
The 514th District Court is one of the district courts the Legislature created effective September 1, 2026, so Landrum is its first judge.
About the judge
Michael Landrum of Houston returns to the district bench: he previously presided over the 113th and 164th District Courts in Harris County and has since practiced as an attorney and arbitrator. A graduate of The University of Texas School of Law, he is a member of the Texas Association of Civil Trial and Appellate Specialists and the Texas Association of Attorney Mediators, and lectures on continuing legal education for the Houston Bar Association.
