Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Andrea Westerfeld as justice of the 10th Court of Appeals. The appointment was announced September 23, 2026 and takes effect October 1, 2026, for a term set to expire December 31, 2028.
Westerfeld succeeds Steven Lee Smith on the 10th Court of Appeals bench.
About the justice
Andrea Westerfeld of Midlothian is an assistant county and district attorney for Ellis County, where she leads the appellate division. Before that she prosecuted cases in Collin County. She belongs to the State Bar of Texas, the bar of the U.S. Supreme Court and the Texas District & County Attorneys Association, and is admitted in the Eastern District of Texas. She earned her bachelor's degree in international studies at Wells College and her law degree at Chicago-Kent College of Law.
