Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Cindy Bridges as judge of the 490th District Court in Brazoria County. The appointment was announced August 26, 2026 and takes effect September 1, 2026, for a term set to expire December 31, 2028.
The 490th District Court is one of the district courts the Legislature created effective September 1, 2026, so Bridges is its first judge.
About the judge
Cindy Bridges of Rosharon has run her own trial practice, Cindy Bridges Law, and is board certified in criminal law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. She previously prosecuted for the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office, where she led the Internet Crimes Against Children unit, served in the Special Prosecution Unit under the Brazoria County District Attorney, and sat as an associate judge of the Splendora Municipal Court. She holds a law degree from South Texas College of Law.
