# Claim your attorney profile

## Before you begin

Find your attorney profile in the [Directory](/directory), and check that the name and bar number are yours. Sign in to the Referlex account you want to use to manage it.

## Verify by phone

1. Open your attorney profile and choose the claim option.
2. Enter the phone number listed on your State Bar record.
3. Choose a text message or phone call, when available.
4. Enter the verification code to complete your claim.

Use a number you control. If the number belongs to a shared office, you cannot receive the code, or the record has no usable number, [request manual verification](/help/manual-claim-verification).

## If you cannot verify automatically

You do not need to keep retrying the code. Choose **Request a manual review** on the claim screen. Our team can review other ways to verify your identity, including contacting you through your bar profile.

## Claiming on someone's behalf

If you are a staff member or another representative, [contact support](/support?subject=Claim%20a%20profile) and explain your relationship to the attorney. We need to establish the attorney's authorization before granting access.

## If the profile is already claimed

Follow the steps for [an already-claimed profile](/help/already-claimed-profile). Do not create additional accounts to work around an existing claim.
