# Correct, Refile, or Cancel

## Correct a Returned or Rejected Filing

Read the decision before making a replacement. Determine whether the clerk returned the filing or eFileTexas refused it before creating an envelope; the next steps and supporting record can differ.

When **Correct and Refile** is available, it creates a new draft from the rejected record. The original record remains intact. Documents do not automatically carry over: attach the corrected files, review the copied case and filing information, recheck recipients and payment, and complete review again.

Refiling is a new submission. Do not assume it inherits the original filing date or that an accepted portion of a partially accepted envelope should be submitted again. Consult the rejection notice and the court's correction procedure for the particular situation.

## Request Cancellation When Available

A record may offer **Cancel This Filing** while cancellation is available. The confirmation explains the request; select **Cancel Filing** to send it or **Keep It Filed** to stop.

The cancellation window can close when clerk review begins. The presence of the button is not a guarantee that the request will succeed. Read the response and verify the outcome. Cancellation is not a way to edit an accepted court record, and it does not recall electronic service already delivered.

## Resume or Discard a Draft

Open a draft from Filings to continue preparing it. Review the saved information and reattach files if required. Use the draft's discard control only when you no longer need that preparation.

Discarding a draft does not withdraw a previously submitted envelope. If a submission is sending or unconfirmed, investigate that transaction rather than discarding the draft and starting over.
